Dr. Castel Sweet

Dr. Castel Sweet is the co-facilitator of the Lafayette Community Remembrance Project and is also the Director of the Center for Community Engagement and Assistant Professor of practice in community engagement in the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement at the University of Mississippi. She is a community engagement practitioner who encourages the unknown to be explored, endeavors to make the unfamiliar familiar, and seeks to cultivate relationships that are transformational instead of transactional. Dr. Sweet’s formal training in sociology enables her to comprehensively develop, support, and advocate for ethical and equitable community engagement practices.
