Brian Grizzell

City Council, Jackson, MS

Dr. Brian Grizzell is an accomplished scholar-practitioner, educator, and civic leader with over
two decades of experience spanning corporate enterprise, higher education, and public service.
He currently serves as a certified graduation coach, helping to re-engage and re-enroll at-risk
youth in high school, helping them to graduate with their respective diplomas.

Dr. Grizzell holds both a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences and an Ed.D. in
Higher Education. Throughout his career, he has combined academic rigor with practical
leadership, serving in key roles such as Campus Dean and national dropout prevention specialist.
He has also led faculty development initiatives, chaired academic councils, and overseen
strategic course design and instructional quality.

In addition to his academic and professional accomplishments, Dr. Grizzell is a dedicated public
servant. As the elected City Councilman for Ward 4 in Jackson, Mississippi, he serves as Vice
President of the City Council and is an Advanced Certified Municipal Official—the first in
Jackson’s history to hold this distinction. He leads several infrastructure and community
revitalization projects and is deeply committed to neighborhood engagement and policy
transparency.

Dr. Grizzell is the owner of Brian Grizzell and Associates LLC, a consulting firm providing
strategic guidance to educational institutions, nonprofits, and local businesses. His doctoral
research focused on using the DiSC personality assessment to reduce staff attrition and improve
workplace climate in higher education. Whether in the classroom, the boardroom, or the community, Dr. Grizzell brings a student-centered, servant leadership approach to every endeavor. His life’s work reflects his belief in purposeful leadership and the power of education to transform lives.
