
Marvin Jones
Circuit Clerk & Registrar, Belzoni, MS
Marvin Jones is a native of Belzoni, Mississippi and a 1994 graduate of Jackson State University. Upon graduating in 1994, Marvin took a full-time volunteer role with tutoring and mentoring inner-city youths at Operation Shoestring in Jackson, Mississippi. After that, he returned home and began teaching adult women to successfully pass the G.E.D. examination for the University of Mississippi. He served as a school attendance officer for the Mississippi Department of Education for 17 years and retired after 10 years of serving as the Transportation Director for the Humphreys County School and Mississippi Achievement School Districts in 2020. In 2021, he was elected as Ward 3- Alderman for the city of Belzoni. He currently serves as the Humphreys County Circuit Clerk.
Marvin is married to Mississippi House of Representative Timaka James-Jones. They are very active members of White Star Missionary Baptist Church. Together, they have two adult daughters: Sylvia Jones, who is a high school science teacher, basketball, softball, and volleyball coach, and Gabriel Jones-Harrington. She and her husband; Tyqua are United States Army Veterans with daughter, Melonie Rose Harrington, who is the granddaughter of Marvin and Timaka.
He is an active member of several organizations and boards. He’s most proud to be the Immediate Past-President of the Beta Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He has helped to serve area communities by providing funding for scholarships, relief efforts, housing, food, clothing, tutorials, and community forums. He has also helped to bring notice and resources to victims of the “2023 Rolling Fork/Silver City Tornado” and attention to the need for affordable health care to the Mississippi Delta. His passion is serving people.
He loves to network with different people and organizations so that he may be more effective with the efforts to bring resources to those who count on him to represent the community with a common purpose. In addition to networking and serving, his desire is to help bring an emergency health care unit(s) to Humphreys County and/or the Mississippi Delta.
