Progress with Purpose 2025 – By the Numbers
Making Progress Durable
E Pluribus Unum (EPU) exists to solve a problem that sits at the center of America’s democratic and economic future: progress that cannot withstand pressure does not last. Across communities—particularly in the South—well‑intentioned reforms often falter not because people lack values or vision, but because the conditions that make progress durable are missing.
For philanthropy, this challenge is not theoretical. Billions of dollars are invested each year in reforms and initiatives that show early promise but fail to hold once political conditions shift, leadership changes, or public trust erodes. EPU’s work is designed to reduce that risk—by ensuring that investments in progress are reinforced by the conditions required to endure.
EPU’s work is grounded in a clear insight: durability is not aspirational—it is measurable and buildable. It is created when leadership, policy, narrative, and civic infrastructure reinforce one another over time. Our role is to design, test, and scale that infrastructure so communities are better equipped to advance opportunity, withstand division, and sustain gains even when political or economic conditions shift.
This annual report serves two purposes. It is a year-end review of what EPU advanced in 2025—and a proof point that durability can be intentionally built, tested, and refined. The work reflected here is informing how EPU deepens impact, sharpens strategy, and prepares for the next phase of growth.
